Ian Mannix: Newspaper, radio news and current affairs journalist and manager with a passion for community safety. Ian created the Australian Broadcasting Corporations first bushfire warnings; developed policy, strategy and training, and worked with emergency agencies to ensure strong partnerships. In 2016 Ian introd8uced Emergency Broadcasting to the National Broadcasting Corporation of PNG. He has worked on media training and development in Australia, PONG, and Timor-Leste.

Ian was awarded the Australian Public Service Medal for his development of emergency broadcasting and was made a Fellow of Emergency Media and Public Affairs for commitment to the industry and to EMPA. https://empa.org.au/

Ian undertook a Churchill Fellowship to examine warning systems in the US and Canada.
